How can I make myself have a bowel movement after being on narcotics for a week?
I just had my wisdom teeth out about a week ago and I’ve been on medicines ever since and I have not had a bowel movement in almost a week. It is not that I feel I have to and can’t, I just don’t feel the need to. Now I am only on ibuprofen and penicillin. Any ideas?
Call the doctor. You could try microwaved hot prune juice and eat some applesauce….

Fiber and water get some fiber one cereal it has like 51% of your daily value in one bowl I ususally eat 2 servings in one bowl and add some organic flax seed to it ,the one I have is from GNC its has 49% of your daily value in 2 tablespoons so I get around 30 or so grams of fiber. trust me it will make you go soon after. The only draw back is you have to drink water the more the better not to exceed a gallon an hour.Otherwise it can make constipation that much worse

You shouldn’t go more than 3 days. Take a laxative, drink more water & move around.

Is there a White Castle restaurant nearby?
Most people need to drop a deuce shortly after eating a few of their "sliders".

You have a couple of good options. First, you may want to try a fiber supplement, like metamucil. They come as tablets and powder (I would prefer the tablets because you don’t have to mix and drink). These cause retention in fluid and stimulate you gastrointestinal tract to get moving. It can take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours to work, but it usually gets results.
Docusate is a stool softener that also draws water in, softening the stool and making a bowel movement easier, but it doesn’t stimulate a movement.
Stimulant laxitives are also an option, but I wouldn’t try these unless the fiber doesn’t work, since they can cause pretty painful abdominal cramping.
I would also keep hydrated – drink a good amount of water.
