you are funny. since both groups require a belief in a higher power. this kind of chit chat would roll right off an athetit's back. for me I have never had a need for either group. atheists seem to know their limits. I learned mine in the 60s. there is no need to drop five hits of owsley acid when one does the trick.

Funny you would ask, we don’t need them although I can see why you might sitting there chanting to imaginary things in the sky. Sounds like you need both of the above groups.

In Norway The atheists association have set up a centre for Atheist studies opposite one of the main mosques and every day, 5 times a day, during the muslim call to prayer they shout through loud speakers ‘there is no such thing as God so no one was his prophet and people who think otherwise are wrong!’ Also in London The Atheist association paid for adverts on London buses saying ‘There is no such thing as God’.
In most cities there are support groupsfor atheists. They are the silent majority.

It is significant that you can only name two "atheist support groups" which aren't as they are strongly based in belief, and yet there are thousands of religious support groups. Why would one group with divine aid no less, need numerous support groups, while the "godless" don't need support? Could it be that not only does religion not help but it creates a greater need and problems?

Those are religious groups. You know–admit you’re useless and powerless (because of course nobody could be anything but when they’re not bowing to god) then transfer your addiction from substances to god.

AA and NA are Christian groups. When you have a bit of knowledge, come back and ask again. Atheists use Secular Sobriety groups instead.

AA and NA are quite theistic if you actually look at their 12 steps. Secular Organizations for Sobriety, LifeRing Secular Recovery, SMART recovery, and Rational Recovery are all truly secular support groups.
