Different drug, different group. Generally AA has to work a "Stronger" program. People need more support, because alcohol is widely available. Narcotics are far more illegal and lethal. Both programs offer the support of not being alone, but a narcotic addict has different experiences to relate and would need to find more people like him (or her) to relate to.
References :
narcotics anonymous has no reference to any specific drug in its literature. we say we are powerless over our addiction, meaning the disease of addiction, instead of drugs, which are but a symptom of our disease. we recognize that no matter what drugs we did, we all have the same disease, and it is this identification that allows us to have hope for recovery. i can remember the day i realized that if i have the same disease as other members, i can stay clean with their recovery too.
References :
personal experience, but please check out na.org
