Choosing domain names to market your business

When you are trying to choose domain names based on competitive search terms, you may not be able to get the exact domain names you’d like because they are already being used by others. Sometimes people add hyphens to the URL or add a word to the front or back of the keyphrase to make their business and domain unique. Examples are “the” (The Coffee Shop), “best” (Best Cake Recipe), and “online” (Radio Controlled Toys Online). Personally, I am reluctant to use hyphens for an ecommerce store because I worry that people trying to type in the URL from memory may not get the hyphenation right and wind up at my competitor’s site.
