Who thinks medical marijuana should be decriminalized?
I find it interesting that many states have decriminalized medical marijuana, even though the federal government still recognizes it as a crime. It really isn’t fair for the state to allow, if not encourage, the breaking of a federal crime. As a medical marijuana patient and witness to the benifits of its proper use, I would like to see the federal government decriminalize marijuana and stop the modern day witch hunts that take good, law abiding citizens and put them in jail. To those who are ignorant to the facts, before responding with something ugly and untrue, consider the facts: Prescription drugs are more widely abused than illicit drugs; prescription pain killers are very dangerous and create a "downward spiral" toward heavier and heavier narcotic use. Even over the counter pain killers increase risks of heart attack and kidney failure over time. Marijuana has been proven to reduce pain, and risk of lung cancer and alzheimers. All info is from AP articles on Yahoo home pg.
I personally think marijuana should be legalized not only for medical purposes, but for recreational use as well. It should be legalized, regulated by the FDA, and sold just like cigarettes or alcohol. This would also help with the nation’s debt, because the government could get extra taxes from it, rather than all that money going into the black market.

It is also widely abused. In Oregon, I could pay a doctor $300.00 and get a medical Mj card. It was that simple. If you want a good place to monitor this, I suggest you look to a former talk show host and Navy SEAL, Montel Williams, who leads a terrific fight to come top terms with medical MJ. I personally don’t support legal MJ just yet.

The use of marijuana should be decriminalized period. Marijuana is illegal for but a single reason. The liquor industry loves its monopoly on mind altering drugs and will fight tooth and nail to criminalize the consumption of all competitors. The truth is that alcohol is the most dangerous drug that there is. AND IT’S LEGAL! Marijuana’s impact on health and behavior is small potatoes compared to the effects of alcohol. It doesn’t impair judgement or reflexes. It’s not addicitve. It’s cheap. It’s the perfect drug. Of course the liquor industry lives in fear of the day that it becomes legal!

It should be decriminalized. There still should be sentences for large amounts of trafficking large of all other drugs.(heroin cocaine etc etc ).But it shouldn’t be a crime to possess a small amt. for personal use or for growing a very small amount on your property. But only for personal use.If the people who needed it for medicinal purposes where allowed to grow their own with no penalty,Problem solved. If you were growing it for your personal use. You don’t need to find a dealer. There is no point to having someone who got caught with a couple grams of pot in front of a judge or in jail. I want that spot for murderers, rapists and all the other vermin that roam our streets.
