How do you prevent prescription drug abuse?

particularly narcotics, opioids, oxycodone, morphine, hydrocodone type of drugs

I heard an interesting proposition this morning. Using capsaicin in the manufacturing process would reduce certain types of diversion. The use of capsaicin would make any narcotic anaglesic unbearable if someone crushed it in order to snort or inject it.

Take the drug exactly as described and discuss any side effects or feelings of addiction with your prescribing doctor.

Easy. Don’t take them. Only very judiciously and when pain is unbearable. That way a small amount works well. Never use on a daily or even a weekly basis. There are other ways to deal with pain. Ice/heat therapy, massages, chiropracty, aroma therapy, meditation, exercise..etc. Just don’t do it and yoou won’t get addicted.

There are plenty of pain medications you can take without taking the addictive pain medications.I had bad pain before my 2 surgeries the doctor prescribed me Motrin, Anaprox they are not addictive and work. it really depends what kind of pain you are taking it for, just tell your doctor you do not want anything addictive believe me he / she will find you something non addictive.
