Biology of the Hip
Figuring out what bursitis hip actually is means understanding a bit about the joint itself. There is a point on your hipbone where muscles attach and allow the joint to move, this point is called the trochanter. In between the Trochanter and the soft tissue is a sac filled with jelly like substance called the bursa and this is the source of your pain.
If the bursa becomes inflamed you can count on some intense pain. The pain of bursitis hip generally starts as a sharp, focused pain that is localized. Left untreated this pain can become an ache that spreads to the entire hip area. When you visit your physician, he will likely do a physical and run some lab tests for diagnostic purposes.
