We have learned a great deal about recovering from narcotic addiction and have found several methods that work well. This is information drug treatment programs would not want out since it would cause them to lose a large number of patients (and fees). Would it be better to start with a blog or a website? We eventually hope to make this into an alternative business that would help people get of methadone clinics. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as there is a dire need for this information. Thank you.

Here’s a little break-down: I have had 3 different cancers, 15 surgeries in relation to said cancers, 6 months of chemo, radiation, MS, and massive chronic pain. I have been put on Vicodin numerous times over the last 4 years. I managed to get myself off of Vicodin until my most recent (and most horrific) colon cancer surgery. I willingly went back on it, but in the last 8 months of recovery, I’ve had a lot of complications (which means, a lot of pain). Two weeks ago, I went to my PCP, told him I wanted to start weaning myself off the stuff, I asked for a lower dosage, and he simply said to break the pills in half.
Today, according to my prescription bottle, I am "due" to get a refill. However, I still have 35-40 pills left. The irony in this is that I had called PCP to inquire about something totally not related to Vicodin, and he responded, "I have a letter from your insurance saying they are concerned about the amount of Narcotics you are taking." I said, "Wha?" After a moment of stunned silence, I told him I take what he prescribes, reminded him I asked for LESS, and said, "I’ll tell you what I have been saying to all of my doctors for the last four years. Find the reason I have so much unbearable pain once and for all, fix it, and I will gladly agree to NEVER EVER EVER take a pain med again."

Here is the weirder thing. I immediately called my insurance to confront them. They searched every department, every person, every paper, you name it. They have NO record of sending a letter, and the rep had said, "That doesn’t even sound like something we would write, anyway!" She told me to ask my doctor to fax this letter to her so they could try to track it.

I also called my pharmacy. They know very well the struggle I have with juggling my many medicines, have been very good at catching interactions, so I wondered if they were the culprit.

"Nope. We don’t send those."

My question is, WHAT THE HECK?!?!?!?!?
Thank you in advance for your help.
sarah314-your answer is awesome! One question based on that: I had called the insurance rep first, she checked automated letters first, looked into my general notes second, and LAST, she did call the PBM who said there was nothing, either. That did get me to wonder one bizarre thing, though. I changed cell phones and never updated my number with them (just got an angry letter from them demanding I call to authorize one of my meds). Is there any connection, do you think?

They may have sent a letter to your doctor questioning his prescribing habits, checking for documentation to ensure that he isn’t over-prescribing narcotics to people.

A letter like that would come out of a medical or utilization review type department, and any file copy regarding it would be referenced under your physician’s name in the UR department. (Its not something that would be tied to your file, because they’d be questioning his prescribing habits…not your consumption habits.)

One other thing…did you call your health insurance company or your pharmacy benefits manager (PBM)? If you called your health insurance company, they wouldn’t have any information related to what your PBM sent out anyhow. Technically, your PBM is your "insurance" for prescriptions, and it would be *their* utilization review department that such a letter might have come from.

(Common PBMs include Medco, ExpressScripts, Caremark, etc…check the insurance card you use for prescriptions. Quite likely, it mentions one of those companies or another PBM.)

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about it TOO much if I were you. If such a letter actually was sent, it quite likely was just asking your doctor for justification as to his prescribing habits. If he has a pattern of prescribing lots of narcotics to patients, they might just want him to justify that. But again, its not something that should affect you personally – again, its likely the doctor’s judgment they were questioning yours.

P.S. It doesn’t meant there’s anything "wrong" about your doctor either. If he treats a lot of patients with severe pain, he justifiably could be prescribing higher than typical amounts of narcotic meds.

The warrants were granted. The arrest warrants for Mendoza and Manning particularly described the individuals to be arrested. The search warrant gave the street address, and indicated that the objects to be seized were drugs, drug related paraphernalia, hard copy pays and owes [notations of narcotic transactions], cash, and weapons.
You and a team from the Drug Interdiction Task Force deployed to the Manning residence shortly after noon on November 14. When you approached the front door you found that it was partially open. You could see approximately sixty well dressed citizens of Fresno, many of whom were recognizable to you. They had gathered around the pool and were enjoying the hospitality of the event.
Rather than knocking on the door and announcing your presence and purpose, you immediately entered with the remaining officers, and ordered everyone present to “freeze.” Mendoza was easily identified and arrested at a temporary bar located near the pool. A search of his person revealed a .40 Glock automatic, and a vial containing power cocaine in one of his pockets.
When asked where Manning was, Mendoza replied, “in his office,” and nodded toward an area down a hallway. You proceeded in that direction while other officers looked in closets, under beds, and behind drapes and furniture for persons who might represent a danger or interfere with the execution of the warrants.
You found Manning seated at a desk working on a lap top computer. He was handcuffed, and taken to a waiting police vehicle. After he was removed you went through his desk, and a briefcase which contained only a spiral notebook and what appeared to be some legal files. The briefcase and laptop were seized and taken to the property division.
In accordance with a protocol which you had established and announced to law enforcement participants, all of those present were temporarily seated and handcuffed, much to the chagrin of the Director of the Fresno Philharmonic, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, and the Chairman of Fres-Yes who was to present a bid for the 2014 Winter Olympics. All protested loudly about their treatment and promised retribution.
Those who identified themselves as security personnel were frisked. The process resulted in the recovery of a number of hand guns and other miscellaneous weapons.
A check of “wants and warrants” for those present revealed an outstanding traffic warrant for one hospitality worker. She was arrested, and a search of her apron resulted in the recovery of a small quantity of marijuana.
Charmaigne Manning was found in a bedroom she described as her own which had only feminine décor. Beside her was a small bowl with a powdery substance believed to be cocaine. She was taken into custody for possession.
Gradually, the guests were identified and allowed to depart.
A systematic search of the home failed to reveal any contraband, but entry into a door for what turned out to be the maid’s quarters resulted in the discovery of 10 kilos of marijuana.
On the driveway to the property officers searched Mendoza’s red Cadillac Escalade, and found another 10 kilos of marijuana in the trunk together with the $10,000 of marked buy money.
At the jail, during the booking procedures, you went through the briefcase again, with particular interest in the spiral bound notebook. In its pages were notations relating to a number of criminal offenses including jury tampering, corruption, and bribery. The laptop contained records of various drug related transactions together with a memorandum indicating that 20 kilos were to be delivered to Medrano on November 14.

1.The entry into the Manning residence, although irregular was justified under
which of the following:
A.Hudson v Michigan
B.Impeachment
C.The good faith exception
D.The terms of the search warrant
2.At Manning’s trial which of the following items of evidence should be suppressed because of the Exclusionary Rule?
A.The information found on his laptop computer.
B.The notes from the spiral notebook.
C.The cocaine found in the house.
D.All of the above.
3. True orFalseEven without the warrant for his apprehension, Manning’s
presence at the residence where contraband was found alone would
have justified his arrest.

All of the above are correct. Now that I have answered your question (the one you got as a homework assignment) I must say that I find it ironic that someone is cheating and asking someone else to do their homework for them, in a category that contains the word "ethics". It’s a strange world. .

TFUnder the logic and reasoning in United States v Leon, your
search of the entire premises at 3297 Oak Ridge was in
objective good faith.
Which of the following can be searched pursuant to a warrant which describes
the premises in question by a street address.
A.The residence
B.Any outbuildings within the curtilage
C.Any car parked on the property
D.All of the above
TFThe search of the hostess violated Fourth Amendment standards
because the warrant did not provide for her search.

Looking at the search warrant and what it entails, the correct answer would be "D", all of the above. Drugs, paraphernalia, records and weapons could be anywhere on the property. No fourth amendment rights were violated on the hostess since she resided on the residence of the search warrant. The warrant was not listed for an individual, but for a property and all within.

I hope this helps and you can find it useful

I have generalized anxiety disorder. I also have emetophobia and depression. Each one of these things FUELS one or both of the other 2.
(use Google or Wikipedia if you don’t know what any of these are.)

So, the problem i am facing is, my fiance’s parents are giving him shit, telling him to ‘get rid of her(me)’ that all i am doing is using him and i am a lazy good for nothing.

The reality is, i panic, a lot. I can’t go to public places very often because of this. i literally can’t breathe and can’t stand up for very long. yes this is serious Yes i have been to a DR. They want to put me on xanax. a highly addictive narcotic.

I, of course, refused that treatment because i have personally known people that have taken Xanax either for a short period, or a long period of time and have had the following:

1.) Major life changes, not always for the better. Mostly personality. The drug seems to make them a completely different person. A lady i knew in my old neighborhood was on xanax for 15 years. before she got on xanax things were going alright (she had mild anxiety, couldn’t ride in a car and became agoraphobic.) till her husband interjected and asked her to go get help. years later, he ended up leaving her several times because "she just wasn’t the same person she used to be… i don’t now what happened (it was the drugs)" He later committed suicide. Some more years later, the same lady ran into financial problems, and was forced to come off her high-dose of xanax too quickly. she had a nervous breakdown and nearly died of heart problems in a rehabilitation facility. I was there at her home with her daughter the day she came home. She was a completely different person. there was a different look in her eyes. She was off the xanax. Her daughter even looked at me and said quietly "She doesn’t look ‘ok’…" The lady then started going off about how her daughter and i had let the house ‘go’ (as in, it was not clean according to her standards, which, it was actually worse before she left. in an effort to make her feel better and have a somewhat different environment when she got home from rehab, i helped her daughter clean up the house and re-arrange and re-decorate.) and cleaning things out of the refrigerator, just random things. yelling, cussing, so on…

I would have never imagined her to be like this, and i had never seen her like this before. it was scary. so i left there, moved away. (not because of her, just because i had to)

now, her daughter tells me frequently that her mother has changed so much. she hates everything and everyone and she doesn’t ever want to be left alone. She is scared to say it, but she almost wants her back on those terrible drugs.

2.) Xanax can kill you if you do not follow directions and abuse it, like 40% of the people who have the prescription for it.

3.) it obviously does not ‘cure’ what ever mental ailment is burdening you. it only masks it for a short while until your body becomes immune to it, causing your DR to raise the dosage….you can see where this is going.

you’re supposed to have therapy of some sort along with these medications to aid in ‘recovery’ That costs money and lots of it. I don’t blame them, i would want to get paid to hear people talk about their lives and help them find a way to solve their problems. The only real problem is the money. I can fight through claustrophobia and sit in a session with a therapist, but i can’t pay for it. Why?

I love to work. I love to help people. i love helping people find solutions to their problems and making them happy. it makes me feel great knowing i have helped someone.

but for 4 years now, i have helped no one. I cannot work around people. soon as someone talks to me, i start feeling it in my throat, my throat closes up and i can’t speak. my chest gets tight and my stomach starts to churn. then i feel immediately as if i will vomit.

how is that going to work at a customer service job? or any job for that matter? Constantly having to excuse myself from work because i am not sure if i am going to throw up or have diarrhea, or just not be able to breathe very well. I know there are jobs that don’t require much customer interaction, i just haven’t found it yet. I have also looked into working from home, which, that’s a complete joke. You can’t work from home unless you have money to start with.

Anyways. my fiance’s parents think i am faking this, and i am a complete joke between them all. (not my fiance)

my question for them is:

Why would i go out of my way to make mine and my future husbands life a miserable hell? (me not working = financial problems = hell.)
Why would i ‘fake’ something like this for 4 FUC KING YEARS, WASTE MY LIFE AND WASTE EVERYONE’S’ TIME.

there is help out there, i just haven’t found it.

any ideas yahoo answers?

sorry so long. If you didn’t read it, don’t reply please. thanks.
Also, i’d like to add that i have taken one xanax before. a .25 mg. the next 6 – 8 hours i felt as if i had no muscles and i was so tired i couldn’t see straight. I need to be able to work in order to pay all the medical bills i am about to endure. Hopefully the next time i go they will prescribe me something else. The last DR insisted on xanax and re-assured me that if i followed directions, nothing bad would happen, and if it did, to let her know.

however, that’s not the point. Xanax really, truly is a life altering drug. I don’t want to be healed if i am going to be a completely different person.
And yes, my fiance loves me, understands me and is here for me. He says he doesn’t care what they say but it gets him soooo mad. I think we will just move to canada. I’ll wait 3 more years (to be a citizen) and have it all taken care of free. WTG OBAMACARE!

People dont understand what they dont have…if you know what i mean.

I’ve been taking a narcotic painkiller for back injury and endometriosis, have been on it pretty steady for about 6 months now. I’ve also been a smoker for quite some time (i’m only 26) but i DEFINITELY feel the effects of it all and WANT so badly to quit. I want to cleanse my body completely of the impurities and be on the road to recovery and feeling back to myself again. I feel that my best option would be a homeopathic approach but i have no idea where to look for REAL answers or products.Any info i would appreciate!

If you are off all the medications, you can safely do a cleanse. If you need to get off of the painkillers, you will need to wean yourself off from them with your doctor’s help. THEN, you can start the cleanse. My company sells several types of cleanses, tobacco detox, homeopathic pain relief and herbs and vitamins and minerals to rebuild your body. There are so many options.

A basic cleanse can take about 20-40 days. But you can start with taking psyllium pills or mixing psyllium powder into a juice ever morning and night. You need to drink 10 oz of water or juice with psyllium. It is the easiest and gentlest way to start especially if you are still on medications. You have to drink lots of water with this or it can clog up the works. Psyllium is a fiber that scrubs your colon and absorbs toxins and will absorb medications as well. So you must not take this at the same time as any medications. Other than that it is safe and great at keeping your cholesterol low.

There is so much information for cleansing that I would like to share all of it with you but it is lengthy. I would also hesitate to give you much information without knowing if you are on any medications now. Be very careful. But if we talk then you and I could at least figure out what would be best for you and I would help you all the way through and answer your questions. There are circumstances or reactions that can come up with a good cleanse and you need someone to guide you through it.
Visit my blog and I will be glad to help you.

so i am scheduled for a cesarean for monday and i really dont want it because i no that the recovery time is longer and i cannot take narcotics for pain relief, so i wanted to know if its possible to give birth vaginally given my circumstances…..i dont know the risks and i would really prefer a natural birth so anyone who has any info regarding this i would appreciate some advice, thx in advance!

Generally the answer is no. All the physicians I work with want the presenting twin (A) to be vertex if you are to attempt a vaginal delivery.

Obviously you have the ultimate control here and have the right to consent to surgery or not. Eventually you will go into labor at some point and if you refuse to consent to surgery they essentially are forced to deliver you. But I don’t think that’s a wise decision. Even though twins tend to be smaller and theoretically it would be less risky attempting a breech delivery, there is still risk of baby becoming stuck and then subsequently the baby can go into distress from low oxygen. IMO isn’t worth taking the risk of a breech delivery when it comes to your baby’s well-being / life.

Why are you unable to take narcotics? Allergies? Some other reason? There are many choices for medications, different types of narcotics. If you are concerned about breastfeeding and narcotics, the meds they prescribe are safe and very little passes through the milk, there is plenty of research to back that up. I think you should discuss your specific concerns with your doctor.

OK so as some of you may or may not know I am an addict that is in recovery from pain killers, back in my cancer fighting days they became my best friend that I just couldn’t live without; even after my bout with that horrible disease was beat.

Anywho, in my journey to beat this addiction I sought out the help of Narcotic’s Anonymous. This program changed and saved my life it really did.

However I did it the less conventional manner, without "God" as my "higher power" and since then have been clean for the last 4yrs or so. I relied on the program and their "principles" if you will.

Anywho, there is this one member of my "home group" that every single week that I see him absolutely insists that I must believe in "God" or I wouldn’t have been able to stay clean and sober for as long as I have. Obviously I beg to differ as I am testimony that it CAN be done.

We’ve even had the "why is that tree in that spot, at this time" conversation, I tell you hes quite tiring. So on to my question I know this long and I do apologize…

How can I make a convincing argument that I don’t believe, and don’t want to believe, I used the whole Santa Claus argument etc..and he just keeps coming at me I just want it to stop. I love him and the other people that go there and have attended many functions such as camp outings etc..but he won’t stop badgering me!

I’ve asked him to please stop, don’t want the conversation blah blah blah, but hes convinced he can make me see the light!

How can I make him see the "light" to just let it be, this has been on going for the last year or so?

Suggested Category > Society & Culture > Cultures & Groups > Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered LMFAO!
@ Zev ~ I’m completely aware of what the program asks, I’ve been a part of it for 4yrs and have worked all 12 steps twice now..

Just not with God as my "HP"
You guys are so awesome!

Eeek, sounds bad. How about:
"God made me an atheist – who are you to question his decision?"

Feeble I know. Some people really just don’t take "no" for an answer. Hope you get a better response than mine, and well done on 4 years clean.
