Our Elders are at Risk of Abuse

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Elder Abuse In Los Angeles is a serious problem and one that is not easy to recognize. With this post hopefully you’ll be more aware of what you need to look out for. When it comes to abuse in assisted living hopes you have to realize that there’s physical abuse and then there’s mental abuse.

First we’ll take a look at what you need to watch out for with physical abuse. Be on the look out for bruises or any marks that are out of the ordinary. Also watch how your loved one acts around certain people in the living center. If they are distant or they don’t like someone that could be a sign that something is going on and you need to take some action.

With emotional abuse you don’t have any physical marks to look for, but you can observe their behaviors. If they used to be active in groups at the home and now they don’t want to be around anyone or they don’t like to leave their room there might be something going on. Also you can ask around to find out if anyone noticed or heard any yelling coming from your loved ones room.

Also make sure you are tracking their financial records because many times the nursing home staff can try to get your elder to give them money in return for spending more time with them etc.

Why I like bar tricks….

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

From a really young age I was absolutely amazed at magicians and all sorts of little simple tricks. I took to learning all forms of easy bar tricks during my college years just to entertain other people.

Nowadays when I have the patience, I tend to practice these easy bar tricks on a regular basis and have compiled a nice repertoire of tricks that I can use at a moments notice.

These tricks tend to be simple, many do not require props at all, but some may require common bar items such as a toothpick or coin.

After a couple of years of practice I find myself carrying out these easy bar tricks really easily, something I thought was not going to be possible.

My uncle is an excellent, hardworking, handyman. My spouse and i hired him to build a good garden shed for my family in our backyard. We asked him if he can do this and how much he would likely cost, and he amazed all of us by offering to acheive it for free! He said he had bought a set of cedar shed plans on the web and planned to examine all of them with us to check what style we desired for our shed. The plans were all good and made me take into consideration how we would make use of the shed and how large we desired it to be. We choose the perfect one for my family and my uncle build the shed inside of 3 weeks, we adore it!
