My boyfriend has a coworker at his job that abuses and deals drugs on the clock. I really want to put a stop to this but I’m afraid everyone will be at risk in losing their job. The last thing I need is for my boyfriend to lose his job. I was thinking about calling corporate or the narcotics hotline but, again, I want to avoid termination to anyone else. Is there anything I can do for just that ONE coworker to get fired? Do you think there will be anyone else at risk? Maybe his workplace could get in trouble for not watching their employees? Please let me know what you think about this and let me know if there are any other ideas. Thank you.

Do you work there?

If not…then it’s something that your boyfriend would need to handle. He would just need to go speak to his supervisor or human resources department about his concerns. If you don’t work there…then you should probably stay out of it.

If you work there also….then you can speak to your supervisor or the human resources department.

Although I’m certain this question will bring the masses of "high on life" candidates, we all know who my question is directed at.
Firstly, if you get "high on life" you’re stating that you’re a hypocrite. With all understanding that it is in fact a figure of speech, make no mark that by saying it’s a figure of speech doesn’t help the argument. I’m to believe that if you do in fact get ‘HoL’ you’ve already chosen your drug. It’s entirely not my fault that the drug you’ve chosen is a free, and less adamant version of a real escape.
All emotions invoked by human beings can be synthesized into modern day medicine. Do you wish to feel happy? There’s a pill for that. Do you wish to feel sad? Well, take too much of that and you will. Would you like to increase your libido? Again, it just so happens there’s a drug for that. You obviously see my point. All of these medicines use (for the most part) chemicals that our body already produces. Most of them are just high concentrations of said chemical, allowing you to feel/notice it much faster than if you say.. took a hike? Congratulations, endorphins are released. Now take a look at a speed-addict, or Concerta addict. They really aren’t much different, they chose a drug that consists of a chemical your body already produces, they just don’t feel the need to take that "hike" or run three miles to get there. Marijuana. Marijuana increases your serotonin rate by 4,000x It’s natural rate. Yes they are a different story being that Marijuana consists of many components that do not fit the body naturally i.e: it’s THC and Cannibinoids. My point, still very clear. So if you have a problem with my question, or you’d like to preach to your choir about how the abuse and use of recreational drug binging is wrong, you’re most definitely in the wrong sunday school.
Now back to said question.
What is your recreational drug of choice, and why? You may include a drug that you would "prefer" the use of everyday but cannot maintain a steady flow of. This doesn’t have to be about "what drugz r u guyz doin ryte now". (Yes, I’ve used poor grammar to exclaim that children do enjoy this topic as means of a pissing contest)
If you would like to include a story, by all means please do so. I would like to believe that there actually are intellectual people in this world that prefer the sugar-coated fairy world of Oxycontin and scheduled ‘narcotics’ over the bland taste of an un-buttered planet without drugs.
The best answer will be determined by the best story or reasoning, and the heaviest heart on this topic.
Thank you, and enjoy. ~GBEntertainment~

The library. And chocolate. Oh, even better, chocolate in the library! Yeah, that would be the best drug ever. I agree with the ‘high on life’ theory you’ve got going. It drives me nuts when people say that. Life’s a b*tch and then you die.

I do actually believe in recreational drug use when supervised by someone who isn’t an idiot. Think of all the deaths that would prevent. Instead of looking for their fix in an alley and using a dirty needle, a heroin addict could get controlled doses in a clean, safe environment.

I myself don’t do drugs and never have, but if I did, I’d probably do something in pill form that was easy to swallow, didn’t leave any nasty smell, and wasn’t particularly expensive. Working on a budget stinks.

I am a certified pharmacy technician with a large amount of knowledge on prescription medications of all kinds; everything from diabetes care to erectile dysfunction.

I am also an active member of NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws)

Also I believe that there can be a healthy relationship between the many scheduled recreational drugs and today’s society.
The other day at work I was asked if a patients medications would interact with certain psychedelic and narcotic drugs he uses socially and for recreation purposes.
Not knowing myself and my pharmacist not being allowed to answer such questions I consulted our databases and books.

We had nothing on such information. So what I am looking for is a place someone (including myself) can go to get the information necessary to safely use recreational drugs. Most mainstream drugs do not have many interactions of people who did not know the effects of alcohol on alprazolam and other benzo-diazipates. Another interaction we see is ADHD medication like Ritalin and caffeine cause insomnia.

There are thousands of ways drugs can interact negatively and cause severe permanent damage to the user, both medically and recreationaly.

I want to find a place to help responsible recreational drug users and educate them in ways to protect them from the dangers that they may run into.

Does anyone know of such a place. I get a lot of my information from Erowid but I am looking for something that you can talk one on one, detect the problems of abuse and addiction before the damage is done and help those who are already that far in.

Any Ideas?

good question.

i doubt that there is anyone out there that would honestly answer your questions.

Anyone involved in addiction\recovery or any other aspect of the drug industry will likely be anti recreational drug use. You cannot rely on these people to speak the truth…

Besides Erowid there is http://www.bluelight.ru , a message board for recreational drug users. I haven’t really gone there for years, but if u want to know about interactions between prescription meds and recreational drugs every question under the sun has been asked there…

Probably beer and pot.Plus some of the southern kids most likely got into grand dads moonshine.

My husband was admitted to a rehab facility 60 miles away from me on Friday after walking to his unioon representative and telling them he had a problem. I had no idea but he had been taking xanax that was prescribed by a doctor since august, was taking them before that by getting them off the streets and has been on prescription pain killers (i knew that) for about a year but he runs out about 2 weeks early and gets them off the street. He has had an emtional relationship with another woman for the last 2 months through text messaging… all kinds of stuff is coming out now that he is there. I am going to an al-anon meeting locally on thursday but am having a really hard time finding support for people with family members who are abusing narcotic prescription drugs. Does anyone know of any online resources?? I live in Indiana…

we have a 2.5 year old and she asks me every night to send her daddy in there to tell her good night. THis is so hard… I am lost and dont know what to do. Our christmas tree is up in the attic so someone is supposed to be coming over to get it down but its going to be hard putting it up without him. Thats his favorite part… He will be gone for a month
i wish there were something someone could do…

A lot of times people have to hit rock bottom to snap them back to normal. Good for you for sticking by him!
I live in Indiana too but, I don’t know of any on line sources for drug rehab.
My blog might help you with marriage rehab though. http://www.back2gether.com

There are 12 step programs for people who abuse narcotics. But recently the methodology of these 12-step AA and NA programs have been called into question. You should start out be searching for Narcotics Anonymous with your zip code. Google will pull up some other groups too. Check out the local service organizations in your area like churches and elks clubs as they often loan their space to support groups. Just remember that if a program or a group is not working for you, keep trying. A support group or rehabilitation program is never the same as another program. Each has its own dynamics and one group will fit the type of support you need.

I know this is a rough time, but try to stay strong and keep trying. Despite the bad news I hope you have a nice holiday. Color with your daughter, you’d be surprised how much it helps a kid and how happy it will make you.

I’m sorry for your struggle. At least you can be thankful your husband recognized he has a problem and he’s getting help. It would be worse if his addiction illness progressed over the years and he did nothing about it.

You can attend OPEN Narcotics Anonymous meetings. Open meetings are for anyone to attend, not just the addict. These meetings are run by recovering addicts, and there you will get a lot of good information and support.

You can take the time this Christmas to be thankful you have a husband who is getting the help he needs and deserves. I hope he continues his treatment after he’s out of rehab by attending Narcotics Anonymous as well.

take care, enjoy your Christmas knowing your husband will return a healthier person.

I would recommend googling Narcotics Anonymous, to find a chapter near you. They may know of such a group.

Best wishes to all of you. I’m glad that he was able to recognize that he needed help. I’m sorry this holiday season is going to be so hard on you, but getting help is the best Christmas gift to himself and to you guys he could possibly give.

When conservatives say the ideal family consists of one father and one mother, do they realize they are marginalized families where one parent died, like perhaps a father who was killed in Iraq?

Could you tell a child of a dead war vet his family was not ideal?

What about a two opposite-sex parent family where one parent is highly abusive? Wouldn’t a single parent, non-abusive environment be better?

What about a two opposite-sex parent family where both parents abuse narcotics? Wouldn’t a stable, financially secure, loving same-sex family be a better environment?

With so many one mother and one father families that are broken up by death and divorce, or that have one or both parents as abusive, neglectful, drug addicted, crazy, etc, isn’t unrealistic to restrict children to a one mother and one father family?

I’m of the opinion that ideal families come with one single *loving* and capable parent or two *loving* and capable parents.
Should we retire the every child deserves one mother and one father sloganeering, especially since people like Bush who use that slogan has torn so many families apart and sent so many parents to their deaths in Iraq?

I agree with Barbara when she says this is conservatives trying to push their own agenda. I guess it can be hard to grasp that what is best in your own mind isn’t necessarily the objective ideal.

There are perfectly functional families with one mother and one father…but also countless dysfunctional families with "traditional" parents. The same goes for single parents and same-sex couples. You can’t make a blanket statement and expect it to accurately describe the group in every single instance.

And I can’t even tell you how audacious I find it when people try to say that adoptions should only be allowed for opposite-sex couples. There are so many children out there in need of good parents of any number and gender…to try and impose your own personal ideals on the situation could be depriving a child of a happy life.

I was raised by a single mom and I consider myself to be a strong, well grounded woman who always sticks to her guns. I’m pretty sure my mom couldn’t have done a better job if there was a man in the picture.
