Why do people want marijuana legalized?
I don’t understand this at all. Who could want this stuff legalized? Marijuana smokers are 6 times more likely to get lung cancer than tobacco smokers, and marijuana is highly addictive (look at the statistics, more teens are in treatment for marijuana addiction that all other drugs combined). According to studies done by Dr. Gabriel G. Nahas, marijuana can cause irreversible brain damage and destroys brain cells. Why would anyone want this horrible narcotic to be legal?
first of all, weed is not addictive and when it says 6 times more likely…do you know how rare? blunts have no crap in it like cigs do… and i guess you dont go to parties or clubs at all, cause weed makes everything more different and fun. even though weed kills brain cells we are talking about 10 brains out of trillions… and i hope you know cells reproduce by dividing so no problem eh? i blaze since 8th grade and im a ap student in 10th grade, i wrestle on varsity in 140 weight class…im 2nd string full back and all my friends go to parties to have a fun time and sometimes blaze but not all the time. and just to let you know the teens who are in the treatment things are the loser ones that have nothing to do in their life besides staying inside and smoke 10 blunts a day… those are the kids no one likes…

Because they are pot heads. I know how dangerous it is. I’ve studied the effects of it and done autopsies on those who have died who smoked marijuana. The brain is more grey and black looking that a person who does tobacco and the lungs practically look like lumps of coal. I was in the room when the doctor did an autopsy on one of the kids in my college who died in a car crash. It wasn’t good. His organs were what I described above and he had more stomach ulcers than someone who was put under tremendous amounts of stress.

A lot of studies have been conducted over the years, the science of which actually shows that marijuana is not only not harmful, but is actually effective in treating a wide variety of illnesses, both physical and mental. However, the government-run anti-drug organizations did not endorse any study which showed marijuana in a positive light. Instead, they cherry-picked studies, often funded by organizations already known to be against the legalization of marijuana, to show marijuana in a bad light. Recently publicized studies show that not only does marijuana NOT cause lung cancer, it actually protects the lungs against cancer. And not only does marijuana NOT kill brain cells, it actually protects them.
The criminalization of marijuana is founded in racism, plain and simple. One politician of decades ago said that all Mexicans are crazy, and marijuana is the stuff that makes them crazy. Some said that marijuana made black men not only rape white women, but made them step on the shadows of white men. Plainly, the criminalization of marijuana runs a parallel with witch hunts, and comes from the same mentality as people of centuries ago who attributed all "anti-social behavior" (as defined by the boisterous politicians and self-proclaimed intellectuals of the days) as demonic possession, or witchcraft.
Marijuana is not only safe, but even though this statement would make some think I’m deluded, I’m convinced that it accelerates the understanding of yourself. You get to "know yourself" more quickly with marijuana than without it, and according to all the greatest thinkers who have ever lived, to know yourself is the greatest thing you can do. And having said that, knowing yourself involves more than just identifying what you need to do to fit into society. Knowing yourself is understanding who and what you are apart from society, while continuing to exist within society, as your will dictates.
I think the people of past few decades were scared of marijuana because they wanted everyone to act the same way, to behave in predictable ways and all do the same things. Discovery of yourself might change what you find to be your favorite things to do, but it’s far more satisfying than feeling like a carbon copy of everyone else you know.

Think of it this way.
A parent puts a bowl of candy on the table, and walks away. She tells little jimmy not to take any, even though she knows he will. Obviously, little jimmy takes a bunch, and gets a tummy ache.
Wouldn’t it have been better, if the parent put the bowl where jimmy couldnt reach. She could then regulate how much candy little jimmy got.
What this weak and frankly stupid metaphor is saying is if you take it off the streets and regulate it, it will be safer than leaving it on the streets for drug dealers to move.
Opening marijuana dispensaries would not only open thousands of jobs it would bring in millions of tax dollars to the government.
Prohibition doesn’t work.
Not to mention it would make this country a much more giggly and happy place, haha.
