Should Federal Government assistance be treated as a "Schedule 1 narcotic" due to it’s highly addictive nature?

Do. Lawmakers who push all forms of federal assistance and social program addiction need to be treated lie any other pusher of addictive substances?

For the families that have made it a generational institution YES.

FYI–in the real academic world, beyond the home school, it is necessary to demonstrate evidence of a statement like this

80% of people on welfare leave the rolls within 7 months. Most of those on long-term assistance are either disabled or have too many children to leave for work.

You have the right to your opinion. But you do not have the right to disagree with the facts. If you don’t like my facts, then it’s your opinion that’s probably wrong. If the evidence is against you, you MUST consider changing your opinion. Failure to do so is a sign of lazy thinking.

Would that include the myriad of defense contractors who constantly go over budget, who produce again and again redundant arsenals that must be destroyed and re-created?

The problem with conservatives is they never address the corporate parasites who are draining the Nation’s coffers dry.

The Center for Defense Information (CDI) founded by retired military officers, reports that the U.S. Defense Industry employs 2.2 million people. This military industrial complex 1999 awarded $118-billion to contractors for goods and services. The same merger madness of the 90′s that brought us the debacle of the 2002 Wall Street crash has been at work in the defense industry. It is a consequence of (the then Secretary of State) Les Aspin’s declaration to consolidate or go out of business. And they did. Consolidate, that is. What resulted was a concentration of economic and political power in a few giant corporate hands. CDI notes, for example, that General Dynamics, which operates the huge Electric Boat shipbuilding facility,

…acquired Bath Shipbuilding in 1995 and National Steel and Shipbuilding (NASSCO) in 1998, and now controls three of the nation’s six shipyards which produce Navy vessels. The "Big Three" in the defense industry — Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Raytheon — alone accounted for 26% of all defense contracts in FY’99.
