Can I request a specific narcotic?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

15 months ago I was involved in a car accident that left me with two ruptured discs in my L4-L5 and L5-S1. My L5-S1 disk is not only ruptured but torn as well. The pain is excruciating and quite often debilitating. I have been put on numerous varieties of non-narcotics and narcotics such as trammadol, darvocet, vicodin 5mg and 7.5mg, percocet 5mg and 10mg, that is just to name a few. With every one of those I got minor relief but was still left in pain and would end up taking more than what I should have. I have already been seen by a neurosurgeon who has recommended a lumbar fusion. My regular doctor and the neurosurgeon felt that my pain was significant enough to warrant an immediate appointment with the pain center. Typical wait time is 2-3 months, I got an appointment within 3 days. I go in on Monday to speak with my pain management doctor and wasn’t sure what to expect. I would like to know if I would be able to recommend a specific narcotic that has proven to be very effective for me in the past leaving me little to no side effects while allowing me to function normally. I am just not sure if they will be ok with it.

I was given Dilaudid to help manage the pain I had from gallbladder pains as well as pancreatitus. I had 7 12mm stones in my gallbladder and the pain was as intense as the pain I have now, and I had the same issue then with finding a narcotic that was effective at giving me relief so I could function as normal as possible.

Just a little insight would be great. My most recent prescription that my PCP has given me was percocet 10mg every 4-6 hours. This takes a bit of the edge off but still leaves me in a lot of pain. Is asking for Dilaudid too high of a jump to make?

I am very well aware of what dilaudid is and what its side effects are, I am just wanting to know an answer to whether or not a pain management doctor will take a recommendation for a pain medication that has proven to be effective for me in the past.

You will be on very close supervision with a pain clinic for the drugs you get. Screw up once and that’s it. They may want to do an upper dermal, if it works fine if not, they’ll work something out for a relief drug.

withdrawal from suboxone?

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Ive been taking 16 mg of suboxone for 2 years now after a 17 year addiction to pain killers. I know it has a remarkably long half life. I have to have surgery next month and need to be able to take the narcotics for a short while while in the hospital and at home. I chose relief from the disease of addiction rather than the pain of my rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Here is my dilemma, i stopped taking it cold turkey exactly one week ago and have absolutely NO withdrawal symptoms. Any body know how long for it takes to get out of my system?

All the answers so far are dead wrong, as you will soon find out. I love how people give advice about a drug they have never taken or know nothing about.

suboxone has a half life of about 36 hours, and it also has a stacking effect. At 16 mg’s a day for 2 years, it will take over a week to clear your system.

This should give you some idea of how over medicated you have been, and when the w.d.’s do hit, I hope you have something for relief because they will be brutal and last a very very long time.

The good news is this is a great way to reduce your sub intake. you should be able to go back on 4 mg’s a day and have exactly the same relief you had before at 16 mg’s. Are you aware 1 mg of sub is equal to 50 mg’s of morphine?

If you are having surgery next month I’m not sure why you are trying to detox now, but i know many people who have jumped from lower doses of sub and not felt anything for a week or so. Be prepared because it is coming.

criminology?????????????????????????????

The warrants were granted. The arrest warrants for Mendoza and Manning particularly described the individuals to be arrested. The search warrant gave the street address, and indicated that the objects to be seized were drugs, drug related paraphernalia, hard copy pays and owes [notations of narcotic transactions], cash, and weapons.
You and a team from the Drug Interdiction Task Force deployed to the Manning residence shortly after noon on November 14. When you approached the front door you found that it was partially open. You could see approximately sixty well dressed citizens of Fresno, many of whom were recognizable to you. They had gathered around the pool and were enjoying the hospitality of the event.
Rather than knocking on the door and announcing your presence and purpose, you immediately entered with the remaining officers, and ordered everyone present to “freeze.” Mendoza was easily identified and arrested at a temporary bar located near the pool. A search of his person revealed a .40 Glock automatic, and a vial containing power cocaine in one of his pockets.
When asked where Manning was, Mendoza replied, “in his office,” and nodded toward an area down a hallway. You proceeded in that direction while other officers looked in closets, under beds, and behind drapes and furniture for persons who might represent a danger or interfere with the execution of the warrants.
You found Manning seated at a desk working on a lap top computer. He was handcuffed, and taken to a waiting police vehicle. After he was removed you went through his desk, and a briefcase which contained only a spiral notebook and what appeared to be some legal files. The briefcase and laptop were seized and taken to the property division.
In accordance with a protocol which you had established and announced to law enforcement participants, all of those present were temporarily seated and handcuffed, much to the chagrin of the Director of the Fresno Philharmonic, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, and the Chairman of Fres-Yes who was to present a bid for the 2014 Winter Olympics. All protested loudly about their treatment and promised retribution.
Those who identified themselves as security personnel were frisked. The process resulted in the recovery of a number of hand guns and other miscellaneous weapons.
A check of “wants and warrants” for those present revealed an outstanding traffic warrant for one hospitality worker. She was arrested, and a search of her apron resulted in the recovery of a small quantity of marijuana.
Charmaigne Manning was found in a bedroom she described as her own which had only feminine décor. Beside her was a small bowl with a powdery substance believed to be cocaine. She was taken into custody for possession.
Gradually, the guests were identified and allowed to depart.
A systematic search of the home failed to reveal any contraband, but entry into a door for what turned out to be the maid’s quarters resulted in the discovery of 10 kilos of marijuana.
On the driveway to the property officers searched Mendoza’s red Cadillac Escalade, and found another 10 kilos of marijuana in the trunk together with the $10,000 of marked buy money.
At the jail, during the booking procedures, you went through the briefcase again, with particular interest in the spiral bound notebook. In its pages were notations relating to a number of criminal offenses including jury tampering, corruption, and bribery. The laptop contained records of various drug related transactions together with a memorandum indicating that 20 kilos were to be delivered to Medrano on November 14.

1.The entry into the Manning residence, although irregular was justified under
which of the following:
A.Hudson v Michigan
B.Impeachment
C.The good faith exception
D.The terms of the search warrant
2.At Manning’s trial which of the following items of evidence should be suppressed because of the Exclusionary Rule?
A.The information found on his laptop computer.
B.The notes from the spiral notebook.
C.The cocaine found in the house.
D.All of the above.
3. True orFalseEven without the warrant for his apprehension, Manning’s
presence at the residence where contraband was found alone would
have justified his arrest.

All of the above are correct. Now that I have answered your question (the one you got as a homework assignment) I must say that I find it ironic that someone is cheating and asking someone else to do their homework for them, in a category that contains the word "ethics". It’s a strange world. .

about certain medications ?

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

my sister was taking the medication LORTABS for more than an year.now doctors tell her she needs to go cold -turkey as they call it . she has panic attacks & anxietyattacks , sweats and feels nauseaded and hardly doesn’t sleep at nights .she was told by her doctor she would have to stay at the hospital for a week . MY doctor will NOT give them to me no more than a month when i’m in pain cause she says they are addictive and narcotics. why her doctor prescribe them to her for so long , don’t seem right . she wants to quit cold-turkey on her own to avoid hospital stay . can a person do it on their own ? she is diebetic & has heart problems. she also has high blood pressure. i didn’t find out till recently that she was taking them for OVER a year . has anyone gone through this ? I sure could use your help & ideas . thank- you .

In my experience I don’t beleive Lortabs Have the same withdrawl as Other Painkillers. She will experience with drawl. Consisting Of sweats, body pain, diariha, and fatigue. Not to mention the extrem irritability. I suggest she is hospitalized because many people can take seizures and most people end up going back to them even if they have to buy them from the streets. She should get help before she escaletes to Percocet.

TFUnder the logic and reasoning in United States v Leon, your
search of the entire premises at 3297 Oak Ridge was in
objective good faith.
Which of the following can be searched pursuant to a warrant which describes
the premises in question by a street address.
A.The residence
B.Any outbuildings within the curtilage
C.Any car parked on the property
D.All of the above
TFThe search of the hostess violated Fourth Amendment standards
because the warrant did not provide for her search.

Looking at the search warrant and what it entails, the correct answer would be "D", all of the above. Drugs, paraphernalia, records and weapons could be anywhere on the property. No fourth amendment rights were violated on the hostess since she resided on the residence of the search warrant. The warrant was not listed for an individual, but for a property and all within.

I hope this helps and you can find it useful

The new shrink who said I dont have official depression gave me Luvox CR for my OCD. Should I bother with it?

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I also take Xanax for my anxiety and Ultram for my back pains. The DR was concerned about the Luvox and the Ultram. I was on Vicodin and Lortab for the back but I could not tolerate the side effects of narcotics. Do I give this Luvox CR a chance to help my sick OCD or do i just keep with my Xanax and tame my anxiety? I also have bleeding ulcers that do on bleed anymore and i take 80 mgs a day of protonix for this, I have a low thyroid and massive allergies. I don’t want to take extra pills but I want to know if this Luvox CR will help – otherwise I’m not taking it. I also have had rashes in the past from some other pill.If the Luvox CR can help me with my OCD I’ll take it, but I do not want anymore gastric bleeding or rashes. I dont care about the sexual side effects or the weight gain – I just want some feedback from ppl who have major anxiety, take Xanax, and are seriously OCD. Thanks for your help!
Edit – I love the 2 responses I have received. To the first responder, I do try and use a holistic approach the my pains. And funny you mention volunteering – my 14 yr old cat died in June and I go to the locals Humane Society every week and play with the cats. I’m not an official volunteer but loving the cats helps me heal. I am on the fence with these meds bc I know the DRs want you to get hooked on it so they can get money. I am just very concerned about possible ulcer disruption. From what I have read about this med so far, there doesn’t seem to be a bleeding issue – the main issue seems to be gas and I live alone so thats not a problem. I just dont know if I should try this stuff. I have 5 weeks of free samples so no money was spent but I dont want to create other medical problems if this pill isnt something I really need. What do you all think I should do?

I think you really need to talk to a therapist, counselor or a professional about this. They can give you the best answer.

Will my Entry Level Separation from the Air Force effect my Law Enforcement Career? Read entirely.?

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Hear out my entire story, because it’s a good one, and I need a good answer!

I am putting myself through the police academy. I have passed all psychological and physical examinations as well as written examinations, and I have the discipline and the will-power to be valedictorian of my academy class. I have participated for a long while in a Sheriff cadet program in my hometown and I also have over 65 credit hours towards a Criminal Justice degree. I have terrific letters of recommendation from 1.)numerous officers that I have worked with, 2.) Lead narcotics detective of local sheriff’s department, 3.) Captain with Los Angeles Co. Sheriff dept.
My issue is this:
I was in the military (u.s. air force) for literally 18 days before I was separated (entry level separation un-characterized) for a minor case of anxiety. I was going through family trauma at the time of shipping and it affected my focus at that point. Bottom line, I can pass a psychological eval without a problem, and I consider myself completely recovered.
My question is:
Given my circumstances. My Criminal Justice education, my experience in the law enforcement arena, my terrific letters of recommendation (and lets be hypothetical here with this next one because this is how I push myself) a top score at the academy and on the Texas Law Enforcement Cert exam, is it still very feasible for me to obtain a job in law enforcement? I am putting myself through the academy because I am THAT driven, I am WILLING TO PAY out of MY OWN POCKET for something I want THIS BADLY!
Daniel- putting myself through the academy is just a small measure of my dedication. Thank you for your input.
After Reading my DD214 a bit more, I saw that I have a RE code of 2C, which means that I am eligible for re-enlistment with other branches. if the other branches of the military will accept me, then I am not so worried.
RE code 2C states that it is involuntary separation with honorable discharge.

It will be brought up during a background investigation interview with you. Just explain yourself and hope for the best.

It is a huge hurdle, because the problem they are going to have is this: Are you going to be mentally capable to deal with situations such as abused and dead children, dead bodies, gruesome murders, child rape and kidnappings? It is these things and many more that only police officers get to see as a "normal" part of their job. They are going to ask themselves if this person gets anxiety from family issues, can he effectively perform his duties in these situations? Can he remain calm and not get anxiety when a man twice his size is trying to kill him? How will he react when someone is shooting at him? These are all questions that they will ask themselves, and you will have to convince them that you are capable. Bottom line is as an officer, if you are a danger to yourself, you will also be a danger to your co-workers and the public.

Also, whatever department you apply to, will conduct their own psychological exam, and it might be tailored to your own experiences.

Good luck to you.

What are the best Narcotics for a diseased Whale?

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

hello. I was at the beach yesterday, and I happened to come across a whale On the shore that I felt sorry for, so i hired Some workers to lug the Whale to my house. they had to destroy some of the Street and alot of houses since i have 6 miles away but Its worth the damage.
So now Im sitting here with a whale in my backyard wondering what are the best narcotics for a whale? And if not how do you roast Whale stew?

Try an emergency vet hotline. Also I’ve had almost this same problem before! But because I’m such a trailer trash redneck I just killed the whale right away, and saved myself the expenses of the vet! First you half to gut the whale, then you have to remove the bones [ what a HASSLE! ] and then you cook it in a CrockPot for about 6 hours on Med-High, add some spices, and VOILA! Whale stew ;D

What symptoms do u have to have in order for your doctor to prescribe u narcotic painkillers?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Like what can u tell your doctor that will make him prescribe u narcotic painkillers like vicodin

you can tell him anything you want, but if his examination doesn’t verify what you are saying, he isn’t going to give them to you. Pain is reflected in things like blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood panels. You can’t fake those kiddo.
